The Blow: Paper Television and Poor Aim releases

I made the albums Paper Television and Poor Aim: Love Songs with Jona Bechtolt and we collaborated on all aspects of the releases, with one or the other of us being bossier or more skilled at various aspects. For Paper Television’s promotion, I had the concept of wearing lazily executed skull makeup in our images, inspired by my reticent enthusiasm for promoting my own image along with our musical product. I had an idea for the Paper Television album artwork I had an idea that we didn’t do but I still think about it: at the time I lived in a scrappy loft with a huge blank external wall, and we had access to a super-high quality large format color printer through our connections at a local business. I wanted us to wheat paste 20 foot high images of ourselves onto the wall, assembled from smaller pieces, kind of like the Talking Heads’ album More Songs About Buildings and Food. Maybe we’ll do it for the re-issue.
